NAMM Foundation Names Wakefield one of the Best Communities for Music Education
For the eleventh time in the last twelve years, Wakefield Public Schools has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM Foundation). The Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) survey acknowledges schools and districts across the U.S. for their commitment and support for music education as part of the core curriculum. Each school receiving the “Best Communities” designation scored in the 80th percentile or higher in the survey's grading process. To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Wakefield answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas. Wakefield is one of sixteen districts in Massachusetts, and one of 738 districts across 44 states.
